Alkaloids

Are very potent component of some bitter herbs. Alkaloids cleanse the body in a very strong way if taken in large doses, such as with the herb Lobelia which can induce vomiting. Many of the alkaloids are expectorants as well. They tend to stimulate liver function, increase digestion, and generally have detoxifying properties in the body. These herbs have a bitter property but are often crossovers of another group.

Examples include: Goldenseal, Lobelia, Pau d’ Arco, Ephedra, Oregon Grape, Valerian, and Capsicum.

Sinus Support EF (#1250-3) - This combination of Burdock, immature orange peel, capsicum, goldenseal, parsley, horehound, althea root, and yerba santa supports and clears the nasal passages. It helps clear sinus congestion, soothe inflamed tissues, fight infection, and lower fever. The herbs are helpful in the lungs as well. This is a wonderful formula for fighting colds, or allergies.
